On one end, Brooke felt guilty for letting January leave with Onyx’s cousin, but the other part of her felt like he was exactly what she needed. In her mind, January was uptight, rigid as hell for her first time on her own, and the most obvious remedy was that she needed some good dick to light up her life. Or at least a distraction to keep her head from out of the books all the damn time.

She understood the need to be responsible, especially in her case, being that she was only able to afford college due to her scholarships, but January’s family had bread. She could afford to make a few mistakes and there was nothing wrong with living a little and enjoying some freedom.

That said, Brooke needed to give herself the same damn advice because, for whatever reason, her mood took a nosedive into the depths of depression as soon as she and Onyx walked back into the club. Actually, it wasn’t for whatever reason. She knew the exact reason why she was in her feelings and it all boiled down to one word.

Trevor.

With her phone to her ear, Brooke listened once again as it rang twice before going straight to voicemail, just as it had a few minutes before. The fact that it happened again only pushed her emotions from despair right into anger. She was at the brink of the highest level of pissivity. Which, technically, wasn’t a word, but it described perfectly every emotion she felt.

“Still no answer?” Onyx asked, looking at Brooke with an expression that clearly said she already knew the answer.

Pursing her lips, Brooke shook her head, unable to speak for fear that she would start crying. Trevor was her boyfriend, or at least, that’s what he was in her mind because they'd never quite made it official. She hadn’t really seen him in weeks before moving into her dorm because he’d been so busy working. That was the reason he told her that he would meet up with her at the club so they could spend time. Well, at this point, the clock on her phone marked two hours from when he was supposed to have been there and not only was he nowhere to be found, but he also wasn’t answering her calls or texts.

To be honest, she wasn’t all that surprised. Trevor was known to flake on their plans at the last minute and that was why, in the back of her mind, she doubted that he would show up. However, the fact that it had been so long since they had a chance to kick it made her hopeful that he would come through. Turns out, she was wrong in that assumption.

“Brooke,” Onyx began with a sigh, which was an obvious clue to Brooke as to what was about to come out of her mouth next. “Why do you even—”

“Onyx, stop,” Brooke interrupted, holding her hand up. “I told you that Trevor has a lot going on in his life.
